Benefit Descriptions

GROUP LIFE INSURANCE BENEFITS
Employee Term Life Insurance is available for each worker. Benefits can range from one to five times annual salary or can be based on a flat amount. There are some attractive features to this benefit, including generous amounts available without medical evidence.

DEPENDENT LIFE INSURANCE
Many employees do not have sufficient insurance coverage on their spouses or dependent children. With this benefit, protection is made available at a modest cost.

GROUP CRITICAL ILLNESS
Critical Illness benefits provide lump-sum cash, payable to an employee diagnosed with a serious illness including; heart attack, cancer, stroke, coma etc.

ACCIDENTAL DEATH & DISMEMBERMENT
Accidental Death & Dismemberment coverage provides you and your employees with an ideal opportunity, at a minimal cost, to significantly increase the insurance payable to beneficiaries. Should death occur due to accidental means, coverage for this benefit is usually equal to the amount of Group Life Insurance applied for.

SHORT TERM DISABILITY BENEFITS
The Short Term Disability benefit provides coverage for illness or injury occurring on or off the job. Coordination with Workers Compensation benefits is standard along with a wide selection of benefit start dates, maximum benefit periods and taxable or non-taxable formulas.

LONG TERM DISABILITY BENEFITS
The Long Term Disability benefit offers protection against disease or injury, which would prevent an employee from working for an extended period of time. This benefit provides a monthly income based on a percentage of one's earnings. A variety of options are available, allowing the program to be tailored to your needs.

EXTENDED HEALTH CARE BENEFITS
All of Canada's provincial health care plans provide us with valuable basic hospital and medical coverage. The Extended Health Care benefit includes coverage that is either not available in the government plans or in some cases, will provide for a continuation of coverage after certain Medical benefits have been exhausted.

This benefit generally covers expenses such as: Prescription Drugs, Licensed Ambulance Services, Medical Services & Supplies, Oxygen and blood supplies, Massage therapy, Chiropractors, Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy, Psychologist services, Special Nursing, Podiatrists, Acupuncture, Naturopaths, Osteopath, Travel Insurance, Orthopedic Shoes, Orthotics, Semi & Private Hospital rooms, Oral Contraceptives, Hearing Aids, Vision Care

DENTAL CARE BENEFITS
Each Dental plan offers a wide variety of options to suit your company's needs. Some plans may have coinsurance options, which allow the employees to share the costs. Other plans may offer deductibles and plan maximums.

There are three tiers to Dentistry coverage:

Basic Treatment may be reimbursement at 70% to 100%
Basic Treatment covers: Oral exams, X-rays, Fluoride, Sealant, Fillings, Extraction, Endodontics, Periodontics, Oral surgery, Anesthesia, Preventatives, Cleanings, Scaling

Major Treatment may be reimbursement at 50% to 100%
Major Treatment covers: Crowns, Inlays, Dentures, Denture related surgery, Bridgework

Orthodontic Treatment may be reimbursement at 50% to 100%
Orthodontic Treatment covers: Diagnostic Services, Orthodontic appliances

EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
An Employee Assistance program can provide you and your employee's with information from a counselor on a wide range of topics/ issues including legal and financial issues, parenting resources, advice for personal and work related problems, addiction and recovery groups, and many other programs.

COST PLUS
Cost plus is a tax effective way to supplement the Extended Health Care, Dental Care and Vision Care coverage in your standard plan. Cost Plus can be used to cover any medical expenses (allowable under Revenue Canada's guidelines) that are not covered under your standard Employee benefit program. Cost Plus expenses are paid with pre-tax funds from your business, not the disposable income from your employees. It is a great way to enhance a key employee's compensation package.
